From October 28, 1864, to February 1, 1865, the United States vessels of war serving in the North Atlantic Blockading Squadron actively engaged in capturing blockaderunners and maintaining the blockade. Specific incidents include the capture of the British steamer Lady Sterling, the capture of the blockaderunner Annie loaded with cotton, tobacco, and turpentine, and the pursuit of the Tallahassee.
