The Alden ancestry traces back to John Alden, who married Priscilla Mullins and had 11 children. Their son, Joseph Alden, married Mary Simmons and settled in Bridgewater. Joseph's son, Israel Alden, married Mary Vaughn and became a Congregational minister. Their descendant, Noah Alden, married Joanna Vaughn and served as a Baptist minister. Benjamin Alden, son of Noah, married Hannah Graham and settled in Broome County, New York. Their daughter, Sophronia Alden, married Thomas Dewitt Marsh and relocated to Illinois, where they raised a family.
