It begins with the Comtois family progenitor in New France (Quebec, Canada) Claude Joseph Janet dit Comtois who was born in Lons-Le-Saunier, Jura, France, was in the French Army and was deployed to New France where he fought in the War of the Conquest (French and Indian War). He married Marie-Louise Edeline of Longueil. In 1904 there was a migration of Comtois from Canada to New York, the United States
