William Arms, born in 1654 and married to Joanna Hawks, is known as the ancestor of the Arms family in the United States coming from either the Island of Jersey or Guernsey in the English Channel. He was a knitter of stockings by trade and his name first appeared in Hatfield, Massachusetts town records in 1677. This book serves as a genealogical record of the Arms family in this country, embracing all the known descendants of William First, who have retained the family name, and the First Generation of the descendants of other names.
