This is the Francis family, the name is of Franco-Gallic origin. These are the descendants of Joseph Francis of Maryland and Virginia; and giving genealogical records of various branches of the Francis family. Joseph was born about 1742, probably in Maryland, possibly Pennsylvania. Legend states his parents were drowned when he was about four years old and he was taken in by strangers and given his name. He married Elizabeth in 1768. When their son Daniel was a baby she was killed by lightning.. Second he married Margaret and they had children.
