These are the ancestors and descendants of Colonel David and Susan (Everard Meade) Funsten. We see the chart of her royal descent at the end of the book. The progenitor of the family in America was Oliver Funsten who came from orthern Ireland near Belfast. He arrived in Philadelphia before going to Virginia. He was a properous merchant. He married Margaret, and died in 1826, leaving a widow and ten children.
