By Catherine M. Gardiner

Chronicle of Everyday People, brings us the families of early settlers and the American ancestry of George Schuyler Gardiner and his wife, Catherine Larison Marshal Gardiner and their descendants up to 1929.  We see a sketch of families beginning alphabetically with the Baker family, with Thomas Baker in Milford, Connecticut, 1639. We see the Barnes family, Joshua Barnes in 1632 a founder of Southhampton, LI, and Lion Gardiner 1635 who gave up a command of Fort, purchased of the Indians an Island they called Manchonake, and he named Isle of Wight, and today is known as Gardiner's Island.
