This short booklet presents the life of John Geib and his descendants. He was born in Germany in 1744, the youngest of sixteen children. His father was Adam and his mother was Sophia (Emmerich) - she being the second wife of Adam. John was an organ builder by trade. While a young man he emigrated to England where he married Rebecca Shrimpton. They had eleven children. In 1797 their family sailed for New York. in the good ship 'Factor". As the first organ builder to reach America he prospered. The New York City Directory of 1812 lists 'John Geib and Son, Organ Builders, 55 Sugar Loaf St.' He died in 1819.
