This is the genealogy of the family of Gamaliel Gerould, son of Dr. Jacques Jerauld, of the Province of Languedoc, France. The family were Huguenots, and successful silk manufacturers. following the revocation of the edict of Nantes, in 1685, some 500,000 protestants left their homes for England, Nova Scotia, Massachusetts, South Carolina, and other locations. Jacques Jerauld came to America a twenty year old and settled in Mass. He became a physician, married Martha Dupuis, practiced his profession in Medfield until his death in 1760. His grandson learned with him and became a physician carrying on his practice. Some lines have shortened the name to Gerald
