Captain John Gorham 's genealogy in America begins with his parents who settled early in Massachusetts. He was brought up in the Puritan faith. In 1643, at the age of twenty-two, he married Desire Howland who was one of the first born at Plymouth, also a Puritan. The ancient family in Europe we see the early French and English histories of the De Gorram families. Ralph de Gorram, in the 11th century lived near on the border of Brittany, in France.
