GOTTSHALL: Genealogical History of the Gottshall Family, Descendants of Jacob Gottshall 1924

  • 2000

By N. B. Grubb

This publication is a genealogical history of the Gottshall Family, descendants of Reverend Jacob Gottshall (b. 1670) with a complete record of descendants of William Ziegler Gottshall, with an appendix showing lines of ancestors dating back to 1550. The reason for the ancestors coming to America from Germany was for favorable conditions following the devastation of the Thirty Years' War and religious intolerance that continued in Europe. The earliest ones, Mennonites, founded Germantown, Penna., close to Philadelphia. Many related names are mentioned in this volume, including Clemens, Hunsberger, Oberholtzer, Kratz, Bergey, Souder, Swartz and more.
