These are the descendants of Joseph Greene and his wife Margaret (Greenman) of Westerly, Rhode Island. They were married September 20, 1747. The births of their eight children are recorded in Westerly. It is likely they moved to West Greenwich between 1768 and 1774. They were Seventh-Day Baptists, as with their children, probably due to the influence of Margaret who was brought up in that faith. Included are sketches of other branches of the Greenes of Rhode Island and in America. There were many other families of the Green or Greene name among the early settlers.
