GREENLEAF: Genealogy of the Greenleaf family 1896

  • 8000

By James Edward Greenleaf

This book shares an in depth history of the town of Newbury, Massachusetts and the early settlers, one of which was the Edmund Greenleaf family, the common American ancestor. He lived from 1600-1671. It is believed the ancestors were Huguenots who left France on account of their religious principles. Edward was born in the parish of Brixham, county of Devonshire in England, about 1600. He married Sarah Dole and they had several children born in England. In 1635 they came to America. When his first wife died and he married again, apparently this was not a happy marriage as we see written in his last will and testament.
