GREENLEAF: The ancestry of Jane Maria Greenleaf, wife of William F. Boardman, Hartford, CT
By William F. J. Boardman
This book gives an account of the ancestry of Jane Maria Greenleaf, wife of William Francis Boardman, Hartford, CT. She was born the youngest of twelve children in 1835, to Charles and Electa Toocker, of Hartford. A sketch of allied families is given, some being Hartshorn and Hibbard, Johnson and Champion. It is believed the early ancestors were Huguenots who left France on account of their religious principles. Edward was born in the parish of Brixham, county of Devonshire in England, about 1600. He married Sarah Dole and they had several children born in England. In 1635 they came to America. When his first wife died and he married again, apparently this was not a happy marriage as we see written in his last will and testament.
