This is the history and genealogy of the Gullick (or Gulick with one L) family and related families from 1653 to1948. They were of Dutch or German origin, and came to America settling in New Netherlands. It was a common practice with the first Dutch settlers to write their names with the place from which they came, as in Van Tilsburg (from Tilsburg). It is probable that the name Gulick originates in the same way. On the passenger list of the ship "Hope" from Amsterdam in 1662 is the name Albert Euer Van Gulick (from Gulick). On the register of marriages in the Dutch Church of NY several are recorded from Gulick. Ten children were born in Long Island to Jochem and his wife Jacomyntie Van Pelt. Several of these children settled in New Jersey soon after their father's death, about 1720. The children were, Henrick (the oldest, born in 1678), Tennis, Samuel, Jochem, Pieter, Johannes, Geertruyt, Catelyntie, Grietje, and Jacomyntie.
