This short book gives a history and genealogy of the John Guthrie family, beginning with his home in Scotland in 1680, his emigration to America in 1700, and continuing with descendants to 1889. We see the family in Edinburgh, Scotland were of the best middle class and interested in the manufacture of iron. In Connecticut John engage in the iron business, running a forge and furnace on the Housatonic River. There he died in 1730, leaving four sons, who carried on the business.
