This book is based on the 1889 book by Robert Safford Hale, "The Genealogy of the Descendants of Thomas Hale of Watton, England and of Newbury, Massachusetts".  He came to America with his wife Thomasine and their two children by 1638. Two more children were born in Newbury. The Hale name is of considerable antiquity in England. It is through this line we read about John Hale, Jr and his descendants. John Hale (from John, Joseph, Thomas, Thomas,) was born in 1745 in Boxford, Ma VR died in 1816 in Canada. He was three times married, first to Sarah Lord, second Mary Lyons, third to Elizabeth Weare.
