This is an Account of the Hamilton of Burnside, North Carolina and their ancestors and descendnts. The Hamilton family with origins of England, Scotland and Ireland, are among the great families of distinction in the world, be it in war and peace, science, and literature, as nobles and commons among democracy. Among them are the family of Cadyow Castle. A most distinguished and well known in America was the noted author, soldier, lawyer, and statesman, Alexander Hamilton. He was born January 11, 1757 at Charlestown, island of Nevis, West Indies. His father was James, son of Alexander of Grange, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He was an orphan at the age of twelve and had a scant education.
