By H. Franklin Andrews
This is the Genealogy of Capt. Giles Hamlin of Middletown, Connecticut, from 1654-1900. He was born in England about 1622 and he married Hester (Crow) 1655. He was a mariner. It is probable but not determined with proof that he was related to James Hamlin of Barnstable, Mass. This author also brought us History of the Hamlin Family, which gives the genealogy of James Hamblen (Hamlin) and his wife Anne, of Barnstable, Mass in 1639, early settler in America from 1629 to 1894. We're given the origin of the name, early history in England, the Roll of Battel Abbey, the Roll in Church of Dives, Normandy, and other very early records where the name is found. Also shown is the coat of ams, letters, those who served in America's wars, statesmen, lawyers, clergy, merchants, doctors, educators and so on.
