This is Part 1 of 2 of the series on the Genealogy of James Hamlin of Barnstable, MA. the History of the Hamlin Family, which gives the genealogy of James Hamblen (Hamlin) and his wife Anne, of Barnstable, Mass in 1639, early settlers in America up to 1902. It will be observed that he had sons named James, Bartholomew, John, Eleazer, and Israel. All were married and had descendants. He had daughters, regrettably the descendants were not discovered prior to the time of this writing. We're given the origin of the name, early history in England, maps of Cape Cod, and the early settlers of Barnstable, a list of the Mayflower passengers, shown is the coat of ams, letters, those who served in America's wars, statesmen, lawyers, clergy, merchants, doctors, educators and so on. This author also wrote three other books The Andrews Family, 1890, The Hamlin Familiy, 1894, The Hamlin Family 1900. And Genealogy of Capt. Giles Hamlin of Middletown, Connecticut, from 1654-1900. He was born in England about 1622 and he married Hester (Crow) 1655. He was a mariner. It is probable but not determined with proof, that he was related to James Hamlin of Barnstable, Mass.  Typescript.  Part 2 is 940 p.
