HARDING Family, 1929 edition

  • 1200

By Forrest C. Harding

From the forward: The writer has endeavored in this little volume to outline a detailed story of the Harding ancestry, from the time Harding (Hardin) became an established name. Hardin was a common name in England in 1086. They were among the early settlers of the Massachusetts Bay, showing the brothers of Lady Gorges -Richard, Joseph and John. Richard's son Stephen left England at age 23 and joined the colony in America. He was a blacksmith by trade. We are given the story of the Wyoming Massacre that took place where Hardings settled at Wyoming Valley, Pennsylvania, prior to the Revolution. Tories and Indians were terrorizing the surrounding country.
