  • 8500

By J. Houston Harrison

This publication brings us the historical content of the Harrison family, pioneers of Virginia, their ancestry and descendants. The Long Grey Trail dates back to the earliest days of the Virginia Valley where the pioneers followed it as an old Indian trail. It crossed the Potomac, and the earliest settlers mainly came from the north they passed along it on their way to pioneer homes. It became a major road. We see the family through the Indian War period, the Revolutionary War period, a look at Thomas Harrison, the founder of Harrisonburg, Virginia, which is along the 'great trail'.
