This is a 2 Volume account of the Hartwell families in the USA and Canada, presenting the line of descent dating from 1066 in Northamptonshire. It is continued from the work by Lyman W. Densmore who had uncovered and preserved the genealogy in the 1800s. He showed the descendants of William Hartwell of Concord, Massachusetts, from 1636-1895. The Hartwells being among the early settlers of New England were members of the sturdy yeomanry of England, the men who, on sea and land, in the field and shop, the camp, endured substantial triumphs of history, and who stood among the foremost in the forward and upward movement of humanity. A 1962 supplement to the 1956 genealogy is available.
