The descendants of Valentine Hollingsworth, Sr. The family is of Saxon descent, records from 1022 A.D. in N.E. Cheshire, England. The name is derived from Holly Tree and Worth (a farm) location Mottram.  Collateral lines of Cooch-Gilpin-Jamar-Mackall-Morris-Stewart: early history & Cecil Co., MD. Valentine H. came to America with William Penn in 1682, a member of the Society of Friends. By tradition he was born in England about 1630, married to Catherine, daughter of Henry Cornish, High Sherriff of London, and she was executed unjustly during the reign of James ll, Oct 23, 1685.
