Sharing a reflection on the life of the author's parents and grandparents, and the family heritage, and arranging a family reunion. The Cherokee woman's last name is Choat, she gives birth to a daughter and she dies a few weeks later. Baby Harriet is given to the care of the Riddles. They moved from Tennessee to Kentucky. In 1837, at age 15, Harriet was married to Canada Holmes, age approximately 27. She was a survivor of the Cherokee Trail of Tears.
