The origin of the ancient name, a genealogical history of the Holt family in the US; showing early military records and the branches focusing on the descendants of Nicholas Holt of Newbury and Andover, Massachusetts, and in Part 2 the William Holt branch of New Haven. From the record of his death it appears Nicholas Holt was born in 1602. He (and his wife, and at least one child) were passengers on the ship the James of London, which sailed from the port of Southampton, England, on April 6, 1635. They arrived in Boston in June after fifty-eight days travel.
