The origin of the name, the German ancestry, the colony at Germanna in Virginia, and eight generations of descendants of Hans Jacob Holtzclaw or as he was called Jacob after coming to America in 1714. He came with eleven other families, all from the same area of Nassau -Siegen in Germany. Detail is given on the history of where this band of German immigrants came from. They built the first iron furnace in VA and manufactured the first pig-iron in America. Jacob Holtzclaw took a prominent part in the life of the colony. Shown is the will of Jacob Holtzclaw.
