This short sketch of the life and personal history of General James Irish, of Gorham, Maine, and married to Rebecca Chadbourne. He was born in the memorable year of 1776. His grandfather, James Irish came from England to America about 1710/11. And his father was James Irish Jr., one of seven children in the family. On the maternal side the ancestry is traced through John Phinney who emigrated to America about 1638 and was a member of the Plymouth Colony. Details of these family records are provided to about 1898.
