IRISH: Descendants of James Irish, 1710-1940, and allied families 1941
By Jennie J. Wight Howes
This publication presents nine generations of the descendants of James Irish, from 1710-1940, with allied families. James Irish was born in England and came to Falmouth (now Portland), Maine about 1710. He married Elizabeth, and their first child, John, came in 1724. Some of the English ancestry shows that Edmund D'Iryshe was with Richard Coeur de Lion in the Holy Wars and wore the St. George's cross, a favor granted only to those in the Fifth Crusade, 1228-9.
