This short book gives a record of the family of Thomas James, a Clerk of Kingston Parish, 1783-1796, covering the ancestry and descendants from 1653-1961.  Also unconnected items relative to the early James family of Virginia. They were established in the area as early as 1640. From the earliest years of America we see the James family in various regions of the country, from Virginia to the New England states. Part 2 traces five generations of the ancestry of Thomas James, post Revolutionary clerk of Kingston Parish. Part 3 the descendants of Thomas James and his eleven children.
