JOHNSON Memorial, Jeremiah Johnson & Thomazin Blanchard Johnson, his wife:

  • 5500

By James B. Johnson

This 1895 publication delves into the history and genealogy of the Johnson family with a focus on Jeremiah Johnson family line, and Thomazin Blanchard Johnson, and his wife. The Johnson family were among the early settlers of New England, as colonial records show they were quite numerous. This line also shows the Alden family connection. The young lad Alden was on the Mayflower, first to step upon the rock of land. A Johnson recorded was "the first person in New England guilty of the impossible crime of witchcraft, and executed at Hartford, was a Johnson of Windsor"; and another was the distinguished Rev Samuel Johnson, first president of King's College, New York. Recorded are the first John Johnson and his wife Susanna to come from England to America in 1632, births, marriages, wills, estates, inventories, military service in America's wars, and brief biographical sketches of family members.
