The general plan presenting the Hudson - Fulton Celebration of festivities, taking place in New York from September 25 to October 9, 1909 was to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the discovery of the Hudson River in 1609 by Henry Hudson, and the 100th anniversary of the inauguration of steam navigation on the Hudson River by Robert Fulton in 1807.
