by A L Mason. 1956. 25p

Major Robert Rogers and his Rangers embarked on a daring raid, facing harsh conditions and enemy attacks. The Rangers endured challenges such as being pursued, encountering cannibals, and losing men to stake torture. Despite setbacks, they regrouped at Fort Number Four after two months and continued their mission towards Crown Point. Rogers displayed strategic maneuvers, splitting his men to evade capture and regrouping at a distant point on the lake shore.

The Rangers faced hardships during their journey, including running out of provisions after eight days of travel. They divided into small groups to forage for food from roots and berries. One detachment, lagging behind, was surprised by the enemy, resulting in seven men being taken prisoner. Two other groups were also attacked, with many men killed. Despite the challenges, some men managed to make their way directly to Crown Point.

As they prepared for the final assault on the village, the Rangers moved stealthily, advancing to within a quarter of a mile before halting. Rogers conducted a reconnaissance mission while the men lay flat on their faces. By five o'clock, Rogers returned, signaling the end of the feast and the readiness to proceed. The Rangers, disencumbered of all packs except weapons, were in motion towards the village, showcasing their determination and strategic approach to the mission.
