Frank Moon relocated his family to Brigham City, Utah, where they settled and built homes. The family later moved to various locations in Utah, including Dugway Proving Grounds and Ogden's Hill Field. In 1951, Dell graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond and married DeLois Bertha Balls of Hyde Park, Utah, with whom he had four sons.

During their time in Utah, the family engaged in various activities, such as working on construction projects and attending community events. Memories were shared about ranch life, including plowing fields and harvesting crops. Anecdotes were recounted about encounters with wildlife, such as shooting a gun for the first time and dealing with rats on the property.
