by Peter G Christensen and Robert M Wilbanks IV. 2024. 458p
A detailed history and genealogy of an early pioneer family of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Nels, son of Christen, left his home in Veng, Denmark, arrived in Oshkosh in 1863. In 1865 he married Mary, daughter of Mads, from Kundby, Denmark. Nels owned a small farm just outside of the main town, providing produce for the local market.

They helped found the Oshkosh Horticultural Society, were involved in various organizations, one son was a minister, a couple of daughters were teachers and principals in the school system, and much more. Son Dr. Martin Lincoln Christensen was an early notable Oshkosh dentist from the 1890s to 1950s, helping to found the Oshkosh Dental Society. He was also a hobbyist amateur photographer of early Oshkosh.
This publication is filled with an extensive array of family photos, document images, and background details, photos and maps of the villages of Veng and Kundby, as well as Oshkosh. This book also includes information on a number of the descendants of the siblings of Nels and Mary, including those who remained in Denmark, and those who came to Iowa, Colorado and elsewhere.
