The first Allen found was William Allen, a Protestant martyr, of Walsingham, England in 1555. One of the first Allens to emigrate to New England was Thomas Allen who fled to Charleston in 1638. The first Witters found were brothers Ebenezer and Joseph, hailing from Scotland and emigrating to New London County, Connecticut and Rhode Island in 1668. This text includes genealogies of the Allen and Witter families as well as a poem and Benediction Hymn.
