By William W. Backus

William Backus came from Norwich, England and lived at Saybrook, Connecticut as early as the year 1637. He and his family moved to Norwich, Connecticut around 1659 and he died soon after his arrival in the colony. This book serves as a genealogical memoir of the Backus family and includes a private journal of James Backus.
