Hans Hansen Bergen, common ancestor of the Bergen family of Long Island, New Jersey, hails from Norway and was a ship-carpenter by trade. In 1633, he emigrated to New Amsterdam (now New York). This book includes notes on the genealogy of various families, such as: Eldert, Lot, Hubbard, Van Brunt, and Vanderbilt.
