This is the history and genealogy of the Cushing family of English origin, with allied families.  Records show that they were one of the leading families in Norfolk County during the 15th and 16th centuries, being Lords of numerous manors, etc. The Cushing emigrant ancestor was Matthew Cushing, who sailed from England and settled in New England in 1638. His brother, Theophilus, came before him. He never married.
