Learn about Samuell Gorton: a forgotten founder of our liberties; first settler of Warwick, Rhode Island. It is a noble, little known story of the beginnings of America's life! What part did he play? He was born in England about 1592. As with many other students of his day, the Bible was his principal textbook.  He was a master of both Greek and Hebrew. He left his native country to enjoy liberty of concsience in respect to faith towards God. Arrived in Boston in March 1636-7. He got in trouble with the Plymouth authorities - but why?
