Nine generations of the Gosney family records are provided, from 1740-1940, taken from wills, deed books, marriage books, tombstones, bibles, court hoses and more. Also provided are numerous related families as listed in the table of contents. The Edict of Nantes, by Henry lV of France in 1598 gave equal rights to all denominations of Religion. In 1685 it was revoked by a decree of Louis XIV of France. As a consequence of this act, about 50,000 families of the Huguenots left France and settled in England, Holland, Scotland, and other countries. Some came to America - the New World. Gosne was one family that emigrated to Scotland, England, and America.
