This booklet shows us the Gott family, Daniel Gott, Mount Desert pioneer, his ancestors and descendants. As early as the fourteenth century Gotts appear in the English records and later as residents of York shire and Kent. The first of the name in New England were Charles and his wife Sarah. They sailed from Weymouth, England for America on June 28, 1628 on the ship Abigail. The voyage took two and a half months. They were the parents of three children. The Gotts spread from Salem, Massachusetts, to Connecticut and to New York, to various parts of Maine, especially Mount Desert, as the first permanent settlers.
