GRADY: Some Grady and Newcomb Families Second Edition 2004
By Annie Self Arnold
The first part of the book gives the Grady family genealogy beginning with Alexander O'Grady and Mary (Goodman). Alexander O'Grady was born in 1650 in Killballyowen, Ireland. Their son William Grady emigrated from Ireland and settled in Bertie County, NC near the close of the seventeenth century. These are twelve generations of descendants through William's son, John Grady (1710-87) and Mary (Whitfield) of Dobbs and Duplin. The second part of the book gives the descendants of Lelas H. Newcomb. This is an ancient name, with Anglo-Saxon origin. Included are eight generations of Newcomb descendants. Many of the families were closely related and appear in both Grady and Newcomb genealogy register reports.
