Reuben Gunn, the son of a grand duke in Germany, was born about 1752 and emigrated from Germany to Charleston, South Carolina in 1769, and married widow Mary (Goforth) Hudson, settling in North Carolina and later returning to South Carolina. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in lived in South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Kansas, Illinois and Montana. We are also given the family records on Bernard Sweeney, Samuel Reaugh, and Rev. James Dunn. James Dunn was born in Londonderry, Ireland in April 1732 and had a classical education, attending the university at Glasgow, Scotland for several years, being well versed in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.
