HALSTEAD: Genealogy of the Halstead family 1963

  • 1600

By Jack H. Halstead

The Halstead family boasts a long and illustrious history, with roots tracing back to the clan's independent rule of a town for many centuries. Upon immigrating to America in 1647, Don George De Lewis Hallstadt adopted the name George Lewis Halstead. Benjamin C. Halstead and Patience Rawles expanded the family with twelve children, who went on to excel in various fields like mercantile business, medicine, law, and ministry. Among the family members, S/Sgt. Carl McClung stood out for his remarkable military service during World War II, the Korean War, and other significant conflicts. The Halstead family's legacy is characterized by a blend of leadership, resilience, and a strong sense of familial bonds that have endured through generations. 2nd Edition.
