HANFORD: Descendants of Rev. Thomas Hanford of CT 1936
By Augustus C. Golding
Two Volumes; Vol 1 Six Generations of the Hanford family lineage. The compiler of this book was born in Greenwich, CT in 1833. He served three years in the Civil War after which he came to Norwalk, CT. He then married Jeanette Hanford, whose family, for two centuries, was closely identified with the early families of that town. Mr. Golding through the marriage and in public offices became aquainted with the Norwalk history and genealogical research was a result. The immigrant ancestor, Thomas Hanford came to New England as early as 1643. His mother was Eglin Hatherly, a sister of the venerable Timothy Hatherlyy of Barnstable, in Devonshire, England, and a London merchant. He became a founder of Scituate, Mass. His will mentions Thomas Hanford.
