This book shows the history and descendants of the Hanna family, the various branches in America, from the Hannays who occupied the Sorby Castle, the Scotch-Irish, the Virginia Quakers, the Pennsylvania, Indiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky Presbyterians and Episcopals. The early ancestors who first settled in America, against the hardships the forefathers had to fight. Thomas Hanna and Elizabeth [Henderson] Hanna emigrated to America in 1763, from Ireland. Their son Robert, a twin, remained in Bucks and Chester Counties, raised in a Quaker family. He married Catherine Jones of Chester County, and took an active interest in the affairs of the colonies. He later had a part in forming the town of Lynchburg, Virginia, along with John Lynch. This book shows the influence in community that this branch of the Hanna family held. A brief section details the family relation to President James Monroe, through the Jones side. typescript.
