Genealogical notes related to the Haywards begin with George who settled in Concord, Mass in 1635. James Hayward, son of Deacon Samuel Hayward, was born April 4, 1750, and was killed in the Battle of Lexington on April 19, 1775, when the ball from a British soldier's gun first passed through his powder horn into him. This horn was in possession of the Public Library of Acton, Mass. A list of Captain Isaac Davis' Company, the Concord-Lexington Fight, Davis Monument.
