The centennial anniversary of the building of the Hayward Family Mansion was observed on the 14th of August, 1878, by a grand gathering on the grounds of Captain George Washington Hayward, in the southern part of Easton, Mass. He was 72 years old and extended invitations to neighbors, friends and family members. Some 700-800 responded with their presence. At this gathering of the Hayward Family, an address by George W. Hayward and poem by Almira L. Hayward was given.
