HENCH: Records of the Annual Hench and Dromgold Reunion, held in Perry Co., PA, 1897-1912
By Mrs. Lelia Drumgold Emig
Records of the Annual Hench and Dromgold Reunion, held in Perry County, PA, from 1897-1912. These records contain the genealogy of Nicholas Ickes, Johannes Hench, Zachariah Rice, John Hartman, Thomas Dromgold and allie families who were among the early settlers of Chester County, Pennsylvania, and served in the Revolution. Their pilgrimage to America from the German Palatinate region was to escape the tyranny and religious persecution in their home land that they loved. Their cities, towns and villages were burned and had been ravaged by a cruel war. Their crops and vineyards trampled, schools and churches ruined. Pioneer John Hench and his family, like many others started out in the new world with only their trade skills and vigor.
